NDIS Funding
The NDIS provides Social and Community Participation funding to help people with disabilities engage in social activities and be part of their community.
NDIS funding for Social and Community Participation comes in two main types:
- Core Supports Budget
- Helps you join in community activities
- Can be used flexibly for different disability-related needs
- Capacity Building Supports
- Helps you learn new skills and become more independent
- Customisable for a range of disability-related purposes
- Increased Social and Community Participation is a funded support category under Capacity Building Supports.
- With Capacity Building funding, you can get help to:
• Set up volunteer work
• Find a mentor
• Join peer support groups
• Learn new skills
Eligibility Criteria:
• You must be an approved NDIS participant
• Your goals should include increasing social participation or community involvement
• The activities must be considered “reasonable and necessary” for your needs
How to include it in your NDIS plan:
- Identify your social and community participation goals
- Discuss these goals with your NDIS planner or Local Area Coordinator during your planning meeting
- Provide evidence of how these activities will help you achieve your goals
- Ensure the activities align with the NDIS price guide for social and community participation
- Your planner will then include appropriate funding in your NDIS plan if approved
